Every day we can see news regarding the cyber-security attacks, breaches, fake news and influence in electoral processes. It’s not a psychosis, it’s a real life and we should be aware that we are in the era of cyber-crime, cyber-war and cyber– spying.
The right question is not if the cyber-attack will happen but how prepared is the organisation to survive it.
Thus the cyber-security will become one of the strongest investment areas for any organisation. And this trend, according to Gartner, will be specifically strong in industrial and critical infrastructures environments.
Gartner predicts that “in 2020 the 100% of large enterprises will be asked to report to their boards of directors on Cybersecurity and technology risk at least annually, which is up from today’s 40%”

The main conclusion is that the cyber-attacks are turning more organised and structured than before. North America is the most exposed geographical area ( 43%) followed by Asia-Pacific (30%), EMEA ( 23%) and so on.
According this report, the mostly affected are corporate networks and intranets followed by the e-commerce. It seems to prove that the attacks are each time more sophisticated and focused on the headquarters and not so much in small targets like it was in the preceding years.
Finally Acronis predicts that 2018 will be the worst year of cyber-attacks and lost data incidents. Seems that knowing that backups are frustrating many attacks, now the ransomware cyber-attacks are oriented to the backup files and software. This type of attacks will increase 11M$ spending in 2019 in contrast to 5M$ in the past year.
