Yes, there are “bad” Hackers, but there are “good” Hackers as well, I mean: Ethical Hackers.
Those first, the “bad” ones, they operate on the illegal side, of cybercrime, cyberwar, illegal private data collection, attacks, etc..
Those seconds, the “good ones”, they operate on the legal ground, but making the same actions as the “bad” ones, they look for detect the security breaches, to find the system vulnerability deficiencies and to make it hermetic and safe to the threats created by the “bad” guys.
We can see as, apart of the companies, also governments and, especially, their security forces, need those professionals and invest in incrementing the security level of the critical systems. In fact we could hear recently about a creation of a Special Unit and the related hiring process of 2000 ethical hackers in Spain performed by the Joined Cyber Defense Commandment, as mentioned in the article of ABC diary.
And it should not be a surprise, as the threats are very serious and important, and every time more important. The article “ The five major cyberthreats” explains how Eugene Kaspersky, the founder of Kaspersky, identifies the 5 evident threats of our times:
- The CyberWar ( The great blackout, have a look at Stuxnet virus article)
- Manipulation of masses
- Generational gap ( breach)
- Pirate attacks
- Good bye to the privacy
All that stuff induces the increase of demand for Ethical Hackers which, according to the article of Impulso Digital ( El Mundo)raised 13% in Spain recently, positioning itself over the European mean value. The same article informs that the Ethical Hacker job is trendy and that there is a scarcity of such professionals meanwhile all size and sector companies need and hire their services, paying high salaries what converts the Ethical Hacker profile in the best paid IT professional at the present.
FYI: In order to service the increasing need from our clients to find highly talented Cyber Security Experts, Antal International has set up a Specialist Global Cyber Security division, 'Antal – Cyber' .
