The hiring of experts in cybersecurity grows 366% in Spain, but this is, however, the tip of the iceberg of labour’s IT market during this period, since the hiring of experts in cloud has also rebounded to 152%; same statistic as for big data professionals, reports CSO Computerworld Spain according to a study carried out by Logicalis Spain
In addition to this increase in statistics and percentages, Global Cybersecurity Index has carried out a study where it places Spain as the fourth international power in cybersecurity, thus climbing 26 places in the 2020 ranking.
The increased interest of professionals to fill these vacancies is at a maximum and triples its figures as never before, which indicates a change in the current for the labour market in our country and a strong demand for this type of professionals. Said publication of the report concur with a recent wave of cyber-attacks that public sector has received along with the growing demand for a change in work modality towards teleworking, led mostly by technologies such as the cloud, thus making a greater propensity for cyberattacks and sophistication in the execution of these.
According to a study by Pearson, where the main emerging careers are analysed and different statistics are generated, the cybersecurity career stands out as one of the six professions with the highest demand. Despite the labour movement, most companies are suffering from a shortage of these technical profiles. Numerous investigations summarize those three million jobs left unfilled by professionals related to cybersecurity around the world; Even so, forecasts for 2022 predict that there will be almost two million experts in these jobs, a forecast 20% higher than in 2015. In addition, the latest report on STEM careers from the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) ensures that, in Spain, between 2013 and 2017, registrations fell by 6.1%, five percentage points below the European average - according to CSO Computerworld Spain
“We are facing an ecosystem of emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence or the Internet of Things, which favour new business models and, therefore, unprecedented opportunities, which allow us to unlock new values. We are also observing a strong change in trend in the labour market that is opening a stage in the search for talent that we believe will be decisive for all organizations in the coming years”, says José María Ruiz, Director of Technology at Logicalis.
